Fastnacht Day - March 4
This annual Pennsylvania Dutch celebration falls on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. The origin was to use up ingredients for baked goods given up for the Lenten Fast. Pronunciation, spelling, and recipes changed as traditions passed from one generation to the next.
Today, there are three common types of Fastnachts. One is made with yeast, one with baking powder, and one with potatoes and yeast. They are less sweet and slightly crispier than modern doughnuts.
Many now simply call this day Donut Day and make doughnuts instead of the traditional Fastnachts and enjoy them without keeping any religious ties to the celebration.

St. Patty's Day - March 17
St. Patrick’s Day was founded to commemorate the date of a Romano-British Missionary to Ireland. Patrick is said to have been taken into slavery and chose to use the opportunity to share his faith to Irish citizens. Over the years the holiday has become a general celebration of the Irish heritage.
One popular way to celebrate St. Patty’s Day is with mint milkshakes and green décor or clothing.

Festive Mint Milkshake
3 Scoops Vanilla Ice Cream
½ Cup Milk
1 Drop Leaf Green Americolor Food Color
5 Drops Creme De Menthe LorAnn Flavoring Oil
Mix all the ingredients in a blender till desired consistency.
Pour into desired glass, top with festive sprinkles, & serve immediately.
